I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about how to create aesthetic bios. So far, I’ve written several articles on this topic including the basics of creating an aesthetic bio, and then I wrote one that focuses on the soft and cute style, and another that discusses dark and moody aesthetics.
But in all those posts, I never really went into detail about what exactly people use in their bios. I mean, they’re obviously using symbols instead of standard keyboard characters. But which ones?
So today, I want to take you through some of the most popular symbols used in aesthetic bios. And as always, these are copy-paste combos (or at least close enough) so you can just tap or long-press to collect multiple emojis, and then paste them right into your Instagram profile.
Let’s start with the soft and cute style.
Soft & Cute Style
This is probably my favorite aesthetic, because it’s such a fun, colorful, whimsical vibe. These symbol combos are great for girls who like things pretty and sparkly, but also have a bit of a quirky side.
My personal favorite is ⋆𐙚♡⋆˚࿔ — cute and girly. Then there’s 🎀༘✧˚. — cute and girly. Or if you prefer floral elegance, try 🌷͙֒. For something more whimsical, try 𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊 — it has a very nature-y feel to it. And finally, if you love sparkle and glittery stars, give this one a try: ̊+‧꒰ა ♡ ໒꒱ ‧+ ̊
Dark & Moody Style
If you’re looking for something darker, edgier, and moodier, you’ll find plenty of options here. Some of these combos are quite dramatic, while others are more subtle. You’ll definitely be able to find the perfect combo for your aesthetic.
For royal dark vibes, try ⋆˚✧˖°♛. For mystical night energy, go with 𖤐⚝☾. If you’re into gothic romance, then check out 🕸️🕷️𓆩♡𓆪. For something edgy and bold, look no further than 𓆉♱☠︎. And for a dark celestial aesthetic, try ⛧☽༺♱༻☾⛧.
Retro & Y2K Style
There’s nothing like a little retro flair, and the Y2K aesthetic is making a huge comeback! These symbol combos will help you get that early 2000s charm with ease.
Try ೃ⁀➷ for 90s scrapbook vibes. Want vaporwave nostalgia? Then ☁️⚡🧃 is the way to go. Need glittery star energy? Check out ミ★. Early 2000s charm is easy with ✿҉͜͡➳. And if you’re looking for kawaii retro cuteness, then ฅ^•ع•^ฅ is the one to use.
Now, keep in mind that these are not the only combinations available. There are literally hundreds of these types of symbol combos available in searchable databases. Just do a quick search online for “aesthetic symbols” and you’ll find many different sources where you can find these combos. The best part is that you can just tap or long-press to copy-paste them directly into your Instagram bio, captions, and messages.
And of course, you can also mix and match these symbols with stylized fonts. It’s much easier to find stylized fonts that work well with specific symbols, rather than trying to find a font that works with any and every symbol. That said, it’s still important to pair your symbols with other elements of your aesthetic. For example, if you’re going for a dark and moody vibe, don’t pair it with a bright, colorful font. Instead, choose a font that complements the dark and moody vibe. In addition, if you’re using symbols, you’ll want to pair them with themed vocabulary. Words like “Nyctophilia,” “Dark Academia,” “Gothic,” “Vampire,” etc., will add even more depth to your aesthetic.
Instagram Bios Are All About Aesthetics
As I mentioned above, these symbol combos are typically found in Instagram bios, captions, and messages. They’re meant to elevate your Instagram profile, and help to make your online presence stand out from the crowd.
Of course, these aren’t the only options. There are literally hundreds of different styles and variations available. But since the user question was about creating a custom Instagram-compatible symbol, I thought it would be helpful to share the most popular and commonly-used options.
It’s also worth noting that while there are certainly ways to create custom symbols, that’s a much less-solved problem. Most people will stick with the copy-paste method. And while it’s possible to find almost any symbol you might need, it’s also possible to find thousands of unique symbol combos.
